24Option is one of the most well-known and long established online binary trading platforms, which boasts massive numbers of traders globally. In an attempt to widen its appeal, it was one of the first brokers to resort to sports sponsorships as a marketing tool and its relevant portfolio is growing and it already includes strong names, such as former tennis world number one Boris Becker and Serie A champions Juventus.
Within this framework, 24Option has recently closed another deal with UFC athlete Conor McGregor, which illustrates the Irishman’s global appeal. According to relevant reports, this will be a six-month partnership, during which he will feature in promotional material for the binary options firm.
Commenting on this new and important deal, Emma Morris, partnership director at 24option, said: “We are delighted to announce Conor McGregor ‘the Notorious’ as our partner. We decided to partner with Conor because of his strong character. He is fearless and strong. He has one of the strongest sporting characters’ traits in our most desired markets. He is fierce and a true fighting champion and his fame is due to his strength, perseverance and character as an athlete. We share the same traits.”
Indeed, winning the endorsement of the 28 year-old featherweight champion is a fitting move for a company such as 24Option, since it focuses on enabling its customers generate wealth. McGregor is himself a very charismatic and successful wealth generator, and this illustrated by the fact that last year his two PPV fights accounted for more than 25% of the UFC’s total pay-per-view sales in 2015 , while he is currently the highest paid athlete in the organisation.
According to Neil Hopkins, director at M&C Saatchi Sport and Entertainment, Conor McGregor has a truly strong brand appeal since he is “the first UFC star to truly cross over into the mainstream on an international scale.” Many famous brands such as BSN, Reebok, Monster Energy and Budweiser, have already signed deals with McGregor and the list has now grown with the addition of 24Option.
