In our recent post on the forex landscape of Cyprus, we highlighted the fact that, despite the challenges the industry is faced with, many Cyprus-based brokers continue to thrive and maintain an evolving, strong, and sometimes even loud, presence both in the sector but also in the country itself. Our observation is validated by the news coming in that FxPro Financial Services Limited (FxPro), which is a global provider of online FX trading services authorised and regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission under licence no. 078/07, has been named the National Public Champion of Cyprus in the 2013/14 European Business Awards (EBA).
Currently in their 4th successful year of running, the European Business Awards recognise and reward excellence, best practice and innovation in companies of all sizes and from all industry sectors across the European Union. It is justifiably regarded as the toughest business competition across Europe and this is why it attracts thousands of firms, which are keen to represent their country and battle it out against their competitors in order to win a coveted European Business Award. Moreover, due to the fact that the judging panel comprises of leading business figures, academics, politicians and media owners, the awards carry a high prestige and are therefore internationally recognised as the premium platform for showcasing Europe’s brightest businesses.
The awards process entails the submission of video entries by the contestants, which are then put up for public voting and judging. According to an announcement made on 14 January 2014, 70.980 votes were received for all the video entries during the first phase of public voting and FXPro managed to attract the highest number of votes for Cyprus, rendering it one of the 30 National Public Champions from countries across Europe and meaning that it was chosen out of the 375 other businesses running for the award.
The second public voting phase, which is currently open, will run until 25th March 2014 and will result in the company with the most votes being announced as the European Public Champion at a Gala Event to take place in Athens on 27th May 2014.
Charalambos Psimolophitis, the CEO at FXPro, puts his company’s success in perspective and points out that: “It is a real honour to see FxPro named as the National Public Champion of Cyprus. Achieving this award via a public vote is a real recognition of the hard work we have undertaken over the past few years, especially when up against other excellent Cypriot companies. We hope that voters will continue to support us as we endeavour to become the European Public Champion.”
It seems that this broker’s commitment to and endeavours towards excellence are indeed recognized and echoed by the public.
Commenting on this year’s entrants and the success of FXPro, Adrian Tripp, CEO at EBA mentioned that : “We were extremely impressed by the very high standard this year and we have been delighted by the public response to the videos. In total more than double the number of votes were cast this year than last. It is great to see so many people engage with the awards. Well done to FxPro and we wish them well in the second and final round.”
